Greetings Family

It is a new season of life and refreshment. Spring is here, and everything begins to blossom in front of us. It is an exciting time of the year, when winter comes to an end and we see a new season with new life and brightness. In our letter this month, I want to talk to you, Partner, about trust in a relationship.

The world today encourages us not to trust anybody. The world says, “Love them all and trust no one.” Let me put it bluntly: this statement comes from hell; it is not of God. In our vernacular, they say it is better to trust a stone than to trust another person. I want to say this: all those statements may sound good and reasonable, especially when supported by facts.

Yes, many people have suffered hurt through trusting other people, but that hurt comes from hell. As believers, we need to realise that even if the world goes in a wayward direction, we need to protect our ability to trust. We cannot allow the world to teach us how to live. The Bible says we are in this world, but we are not of this world. Therefore, we cannot do everything that the world teaches us.

In Romans 12:2, Paul says that we should not conform to the standards of this world. The world has its own standard of life, and the Kingdom of God has its own standard of life. We should separate the two. In the Kingdom of God, trust is very important; it is our way of living. Yes, I agree that it is difficult to trust in a world of fallen people because people are not always trustworthy.

Let me say something here about trust: trust is not about perfection. We do not trust people because they are perfect. We trust people because of our faith. Again, we trust people because we love them. In actual fact, trust is a characteristic of love.

In 1 Corinthians 13:7, Paul says, “Love always trusts.” Love trusts all things. This means that you cannot separate love from trust. When you love people, you are going to have to trust them. Again, let me say that trust is a decision; it is not a feeling. As people, we do not always feel like trusting other people or God. We decide to trust them.

Let me bring trust back home into relationships. If we cannot trust each other, we cannot build strong marriages, families & relationships. Every relationship finds its strength in the trust that two or more people give to each other. Let me give an example: two married people who do not trust each other are likely to fight all the time over petty issues because they always accuse one another without facts. Most marriage relationships suffer from fights simply because the partners do not trust each other. Again, most marriages cannot have a contract in community of property simply because both husband and wife do not trust each other.

Now let us look at something here according to 1 Corinthians 13:7: love always trusts, love always protects, and love always perseveres. How in the world can people say they love each other but cannot trust each other? I believe most people want to separate these inseparable things, love and trust, these two cannot be separated. You cannot love a person without trusting them. When you say, “I do,” in a matrimony, you have already trusted somebody with your life. You have already trusted somebody with your future security.

That same person you expect them to care for you when you get sick and to look after you. That is all trust. Now here is the deal: most people deny trusting their spouse, yet they live together in the same house. Let me say something I believe as people: we need to realise that trust is important and resolve to develop it in our personal lives. No matter how many times we are betrayed, why? Simply because trust remains the strength of our relationships.

Let me say something here: trust is a spiritual force. It is not something that we can deal with through carnal thinking. It has to be dealt with through spiritual understanding. Trust has to be dealt with through our faith. Nothing spiritual can be handled through our carnal capabilities. It is the same with love: love is a spiritual force, therefore it needs to be handled spiritually, according to the Word of God. The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith, not by sight.” Our faith helps us to understand spiritual matters, while our sight helps us to make contact with natural things.

Just as it is impossible to please God without faith, it is impossible to trust without faith. You cannot trust without using your faith. You cannot trust God without using your faith, and you cannot trust another human being without using your faith. We trust because we believe. Believing means accepting things beyond our natural senses. We believe in things we have never seen with our natural eyes or felt with our natural senses.

Trusting your spouse is one of the important aspects of building a strong marriage or relationship. In the same way, you build a strong relationship with God. If you happen to trust God more fully, your relationship with Him becomes more solid and stronger. When you trust your spouse or any person, your relationship with that person will become stronger than any other relationship. Let me give you some important facts about trust.

Trust is the absolute foundation of a healthy marriage, providing the emotional safety and stability required for love to endure and deepen over time. Trust creates an environment of peace in a relationship or marriage. A lack of trust brings distortion and disharmony into a relationship. A lack of trust creates fear, anxiety, and vulnerability in a relationship; therefore, we require faith to trust.

Partner, I can go on and on, but I want to close by saying: choose to trust, even if the world says that people are untrustworthy, because trust is the backbone of every relationship. Remember, we love you dearly and I pray for you.

Jesus is Lord.
